Project / Third-party software

Third-party licences and notices.

Indagium includes open-source Java and native components under their own licences. This page summarizes the bundled media and application libraries and points to the full notices, legal texts, and pinned source inputs. New official binaries that include the Indagium EULA use that agreement; public source remains under PolyForm. Third-party terms govern their components independently and prevail over conflicting application terms. Earlier binaries retain their original terms.

Media and compression / bundled components

The playback and capture stack, with its terms.

The media layer uses JavaCV and JavaCPP bindings with FFmpeg 8.0.1-1.5.13. The inspected FFmpeg classifiers are shared LGPL 3.0-or-later builds configured with version 3 features and without --enable-gpl or --enable-nonfree. The linked codec and runtime components carry their own licences and notices.

OpenH264 is built from source; Indagium does not include the separately distributed Cisco OpenH264 binary. Full version, attribution, platform, licence text, and source-reference details are in the third-party notices and machine-readable media inventory.

Application libraries / Java and Kotlin

The rest of the app, by licence.

Most of the user interface, networking, and proofreading stack is Apache-2.0. Each library ships as its own JAR, its licence text is in the app's offline viewer, and the build fails when a new runtime dependency has no reviewed licence entry.

LicenceComponents
Apache-2.0Kotlin, Compose Multiplatform, Skiko, AndroidX, Ktor, Apache Commons, Multiplatform Markdown Renderer, ZXing, Guava, gRPC, Lucene, OpenNLP, Jackson, and the scrcpy 4.1 server
Native graphics noticesSkiko’s Skia rendering, font and image stack retains BSD, Apache, MIT, Unicode, FreeType, IJG, libpng, Zlib and Adobe DNG terms. The full notices and pinned build provenance are included in the app; DNG terms include commercial-distribution indemnification conditions. This is separate from FFmpeg.
MITModel Context Protocol Kotlin SDK (moving to Apache-2.0 upstream), SLF4J, Segment, whisper.cpp 1.9.5, and the runtime inside Linux AppImage packages
BSD-styleR8 Retrace (BSD-3-Clause; its bundled libraries are listed in its licence), Protocol Buffers, Morfologik, Units of Measurement, BoringSSL in gRPC’s Netty TLS natives (OpenSSL/SSLeay, ISC and MIT), Jakarta XML Binding (Eclipse Distribution License 1.0), and XZ for Java (0BSD)
LGPLLanguageTool 6.8 (LGPL-2.1-or-later) and OpenRegex 1.1.1 (LGPL-3.0), used unmodified as replaceable JARs
CDDL-1.1Legacy Java EE APIs (JAXB API, jaxb-core, Annotation, Activation), chosen from their CDDL/GPL-2.0-with-Classpath-Exception dual licence
Public domain / CC0JSON-java, HdrHistogram, and LatencyUtils

Native packages also bundle a Temurin/OpenJDK runtime (21.0.9+10-LTS in new official builds) under GPL-2.0 with the Classpath Exception; its notices stay in the runtime's legal/ directory. Versions and licence-text paths for each component are in the third-party notices and the application inventory.

Source inputs / pinned and verifiable

Prepare the matching source archive.

The repository records source archives, recipe trees, patches, platform configuration evidence, legal texts, and checksums for the inspected classifiers. Run ./gradlew prepareMediaSources prepareApplicationSources in a checkout to validate these inputs and produce the archive, SHA-256 file, and manifest under build/.

New official releases must provide both Indagium-<version>-media-sources.tar.gz and Indagium-<version>-application-sources.tar.gz, checksums and manifests alongside their installers. Obtain the exact version from the release downloads without accepting the EULA or paying. The application archive includes Java-library sources and complete matching JVM source/build materials. These archives do not claim bit-for-bit reproducibility or patent clearance; historical missing source assets remain a separate issue.

Rights for LGPL-covered FFmpeg

The bundled classifier JARs can be replaced with a compatible build in an extracted application image. The project notice and source instructions describe the platform-specific app folders and preserve LGPL rights, including compatible replacement, recombination, relinking, modification for your own use and reverse engineering of the application to debug library modifications under the licence conditions.
